The self-tinting Varioflex technology of the ALPINA ALTO V replacement visor enables winter sports enthusiasts to use the helmet for a wide range of applications. Depending on the light conditions, the glass automatically adapts to the environment. The self-tinting (photochromatic) lenses react to visible light. When exposed to radiation, chemical elements "open up" and create a comprehensive darkening effect. When the light intensity decreases, the chemical elements close and the lens becomes brighter again. This process takes seconds.
